Expectant Mothers - Music Therapy services will be provided to expectant mothers to assist in a healthy pregnancy and preparation for labor. Music Therapy objectives can include reducing stress and anxiety, increasing relaxation, developing music cds to use during labor, and teaching mothers to incorporate music in a daily routine with their new infant. Sessions will be either one on one or small group settings.
Pre-Kindergarten Students - Music Therapy services will be provided to pre-k students to teach objectives and goals that are needed to start kindergarten. Music Therapy objectives can include gross and fine motor skills, communication skills, social skills, academic skills, and self help skills. Sessions will be small group settings. The groups can be inclusive.
Children with Disabilities - Music Therapy services will be provided to children with disabilities to assist in teaching goals and objectives that are deemed necessary for the child. These goals can be goals on the students IEP or goals picked by a parent, teacher, or the music therapist. Music Therapy objectives can include gross and fine motor skills, communication skills, social skills, academic skills, and self help skills. Sessions will be either one on one or small group settings.
Transition Planning - Music Therapy services will be provided to High School children with disabilities that are planning to receive a special diploma, leading to work in the community. Goals for Music Therapy will consist of goals not met under the Sunshine State Standards for a Special Diploma. Sessions will be one on one.
At Risk Youth - Music Therapy services will be provided to at risk youth in the community as part of a juvenile justice program, rehabilitative program, school program, or as recommended by a social worker. Music Therapy objectives will be those deemed necessary by the recommending program or by the music therapist and can include anger management, decision making, social skills, school performance, family interaction, communication skills, etc. Sessions will be either one on one or small group settings.
Wellness - Music Therapy services will be provided to members of the community that wish to engage in music activities to reduce stress, increase physical exercise, build new relationships, or improve quality of life. Sessions will be either small group or large group settings.
